This patient is a 52 year old fitness instructor who had two prior attempts from two different michigan plastic surgeons at revising her breasts for capsular contracture. Capsular contracture is the most common complication following breast augmentation. Dr. Bengtson has done a great deal of research and written a number of book chapters on capsular contracture and has one of the largest worldwide experiences replacing the excessive scar tissue and replacing it with new tissues or scaffolds.
Brad Bengtson, MD removed the scar tissue and placed larger more symmetric implants based on her chest and breast measurements, Moderate plus, 371 cc implants with the addition of Strattice which is an Acellular Dermal Matrix, essentially a sheet of collagen. This material provides a biomechanical block and helps prevent the recurrent scar tissue from forming. She has soft, non-painful breasts now over 5 years out from the revision we performed and is extremely pleased with her results.
